Happy first day of October! I am so excited for our October capsule wardrobe!
Over the past couple of months I have really and truly learned the value of creating a capsule wardrobe.
The Value of a Capsule Wardrobe:
- Knowing that you only have 16 pieces to choose from, you end up saving so much time creating an outfit!
- Because it’s so easy to create outfits, my stress level is so much lower!
- I feel so much more put together! Because I already know what outfit pieces to choose from, I end up dressing up instead of staying in my workout clothes.
- By rewearing the pieces in my wardrobe I am extending their life and getting more value out of them!
- Because I’m actually wearing my clothes a lot more, I have started to invest in higher quality items that will last.
My October Capsule Wardrobe:
When choosing bottoms for this month’s capsule wardrobe I wanted to make sure to include some bottoms that were work appropriate. For most of my non-working life, I dress pretty casually since I’m doing things like taking my girls to soccer practice, running errands, or hanging out in the yard with friends. So, for that reason I included my favorite straight leg jeans and my go-to biker shorts.
But, since so many of us have returned to work in some capacity (even if it’s our home office), I wanted to make sure there were some business casual pieces. So, I included my favorite $75 pair of black jeans that can most definitely pass as black pants. I also included my under $70 white jeans and the crazy affordable sweater skirt I wore all last fall and winter (comes in a ton of colors).
For the biker shorts, white jeans, and skirt I stayed true to my size. For the black jeans and straight leg denim I went down one size.
When choosing tops, I wanted to choose tops that could easily be worn on their own and tops that would layer well. I chose two colder weather options – my two go-to bodysuits, and two neutral tanks for all of us that still experience warmer weather throughout October.
As far as the bodysuits go, I have had both of these for almost a year and love them. The white bodysuit is great and double layered on the front so it’s not see through at all. The black one is also well made and just came back in stock!
Stay true to size for all of the items!
October is the perfect month for layering! I selected the outerwear very strategically so that each of you can find something that fits with your style.
I chose the sweater blazer for those of us that work. It looks great layered over any bottom and can easily be dressed up or down. I also chose the sweater blazer cardigan for this same reason, and the reason for choosing two similar items is that the cardigan goes down longer for those of you who don’t like to show your bum. I think the sweater cardigan looks great over dresses and skirts, too, in addition to jeans.
The leather jacket is a great option for date night or girls night out and can easily make any outfit combination chicer!
Because so many of us spend so much time in October curled up on a couch watching college football or your favorite NFL team, I wanted to include a cozy piece of outwear. I included my favorite tie-dye sweatshirt and love that it looks great paired with biker shorts, joggers, or jeans!
I went down 2 sizes (XXS) in the sweater blazer, one size (XS) in the sweater cardigan, and one size (XS) in the sweatshirt. I recommend staying true to size in the blazer.
3 Dresses & Jumpsuits:
Because we have to have a dress for our feminine moments, I included 3 great pieces. This sweater dress (also available on amazon) is a great option for cooler days and looks great with a leather jacket or the sweater cardigan layered over it. I also love the short-sleeve dress because it’s perfect for warmer weather days!
I’m sure you recognize my go-to black jumpsuit! I have included it in my last couple of capsule wardrobes and couldn’t resist including it again because I wear it so much and it truly is so versatile!
Stay true to size in the jumpsuit. I went down one size in both of the other dresses.
