This past weekend Travis and I had the pleasure of sneaking away to the Fairmont Austin for a quick and much-needed getaway sans kids. We typically stay with friends when we are in the Austin area, but since we wanted to keep this trip focused on us, we opted for a hotel. You guys know we are big, big fans of the Fairmont Dallas, so the Fairmont Austin was the first place we looked into.
I don’t know if you’ve ever stayed at a Fairmont hotel, but their customer service is truly incredible. We also stayed at the Fairmont Dallas toward the end of this past summer and the COVID-19 precautions they were taking made us feel so safe. So, we knew Fairmont Austin would also be taking every step possible to ensure the safety of their guests.
Why We Can’t Stop Raving About Fairmont Austin:
As previously mentioned, Travis and I are still pretty cautious about being out in public. We’ve widened our circle at home with the girls going back to school and resuming activities, but that’s about it. We still aren’t dining in restaurants or being as social as we normally are. As we were prepping our weekend getaway to Austin, it was really important to us to stay somewhere that was centrally located. Fairmont Austin is located on Cesar Chavez, which is walkable to so many restaurants, bars, shopping, and hiking trails.
Comfortable, Clean Rooms:
Y’all, we could not have been more impressed by our room. We stayed in a King suite and had the most gorgeous view of Lady Bird Lake and the city. The rooms are always impeccably clean and the bathroom was light, bright and clean! We also loved the blue and white theme of the room.
I’m not sure if Travis was as pumped about this as I was, but the office space in the room was ideal. I had to work a bit while we were there, so it was nice to have a space to work where I could look at the window. I joked with him that I may be checking into the Fairmont in the new future just to work in quiet.
I would be remiss if I failed to mention the fact that Fairmont Austin also uses Le Labo products. My all-time favorite perfume is from Le Labo and it makes me smile that the bath and body products at the Fairmont are the Le Labo Rose 31 fragrance. I mean, dare I say you need to stay there just to try their bath products?
Rooftop Pool:
Oh y’all, the Fairmont Austin pool is one for the books. It’s on the 7th floor and has the most gorgeous view of the city. The pool is stunning and tucked in by beautiful white lounge chairs on one side and cabanas on the other. It has a hot tub for cooler evenings and the neatest thing: their sunscreen machine! Much like a spray tan machine, right by the pool is a rotating disc you can stand on and be sprayed by sunscreen for overall coverage. It was super fun!
Travis and I got in midday on Friday and because it was so warm this past weekend, we went straight to the pool to relax. We started out by dipping our toes in the water and then relaxed in a cabana. We enjoyed all the dips as our late lunch and may or may not have had a glass of prosecco (or two!). Watching tennis poolside, talking and just lounging was the perfect way to kick off our weekend!
Rules & Regs Rooftop Bar:
Travis and I love the Fairmont bar, but again, we aren’t super comfortable eating indoors yet. Luckily, the Fairmont Austin has an open-air bar on the same floor as the pool. So, our second night in Austin we sat outdoors and enjoyed a pre-dinner drink as we watched the sun start to set. It was perfect!
Crazy Good Customer Service:
I’m sure I sound like a broken record with this, but the customer service at Fairmont Austin, Fairmont Dallas and I’m assuming any Fairmont is outstanding. We did partner with the Fairmont Austin for our stay this weekend, but we made a point to watch how the staff treated all of the Fairmont guests. Y’all, they treat every single human – no matter your age, color, race, etc. – the exact same!
The Fairmont staff refers to each person and sir or mom, speaks respectfully, and is constantly asking their guests how they can best serve them.
COVID-19 Safety Precautions:

COVID-19 Safe Activities & Restaurants in Austin:
Outdoor Activities:
The main thing we did outdoors was hike. We hiked on the Violet Crown Trail Saturday morning for several hours and loved it. We also got recommendations for the Wild Basin Preserve, but didn’t have chance to explore it.
Restaurants with Patios:
We are at several restaurants for over the weekend but our favorite was the Sour Duck. The Odd Duck is already one of our favorite restaurants and then they opened up another restaurant called Sour Duck with a bigger and better patio. We ate lunch their on Saturday and the food was so good. The tables were also spaced out really well, so we felt super safe!
