chic and affordable date night outfits you’ll want for fall

When was the last time you thought about planning date night outfits?

I chuckle just writing the phrase “date night outfits” because it’s been so incredibly long since we have consistently gone on a date. In fact, since Quarantine started, we have only been on two dates. Yikes!

All that is changing this weekend though as Travis and I are heading to Austin, TX for a weekend getaway…just us two! I am so excited! We are planning on spending most of our time really pouring into us as a couple.

While we don’t have any set plans really, I know we will spend time hiking outdoors, laying poolside at the Fairmont Austin, and trying new restaurants (outdoors of course).

Because It’s been so long since we’ve traveled alone or gone on consistent dates, I went a little clothes happy planning date night outfits.

Prepping Outfits For a Trip:

Make a List:

Any time we go on a trip I always plan out my outfits for the trip. I start by making a list of each item I’ll need like my shoes, bags, etc.. Then, I write out each outfit – the top, the bottoms, the shoes and the accessories. My favorite app to do this in is the “to do” app.

Take Photos:

Once I have my outfits planned out, I take pictures of them. This may sound a little obsessive, but it makes it so easy when you’re actually at your destination. It eliminates all the extra time you spend digging through your bag and trying to recall what pieces you had paired with what.

Because I had already taken photos of my date night outfits for Austin, I thought I’d go ahead and share them with you guys! The beauty of these outfits is that you really can style them for date night, for work, or for play. You can also mix and match any of these pieces together to fit your style!

Date Night Outfits For Fall:

A small caveat on my date night outfit options – each of these can be styled with a leather jacket or a my go-to sweater blazer. Unfortunately for us, it’s going to be in the 90s this weekend in Austin, so I doubt I will be doing a lot of layering.

One Should top + Faux Leather Skirt:

This is one of my favorite date night looks. I love the lighter color faux leather skirt paired with neutral boots. The bodysuit is super flattering too without showing too much. I do love, too, that each piece can be styled for more casual looks. You can easily pair this bodysuit with jeans and booties. You could also style this faux leather skirt with a chunky sweater.

Smocked Top + Faux Leather Leggings:

I’m not sure anything screams date night more than faux leather leggings. I paired these leggings with this smocked top and my favorite new boots. As far as versatility goes, these faux leather leggings are incredibly versatile. They’re fun for date night, but I mostly wear them in the winter with chunky sweaters and boots or booties!

Bodysuit + Jeans:

I love this bodysuit and have it in this color and black. I love that it gives off such a chic vibe without showing too much. I also think these jeans are so fun. The jeans are from target and I simply cut a couple inches off the hem to give it the look I wanted.

Faux Leather Shorts + a Feminine Blouse:

How fun are these faux leather shorts. They’re super chic and look great with so many different tops. What I love about these shorts is that they’re chic, but also really comfortable. The waist band is stretchy making it so comfortable and the length is perfect. For a more casual outfit, pair it with a chunky knit sweater.

Sweater Skirt + a Casual Top:

Give me all the sweater skirts. I love that this one has a slit, but it’s not cut too high. I paired it first with a sweater bodysuit for cooler temps and then with my favorite tank from my October capsule wardrobe for a more casual look.
