Hi there, babes! Anyone else ready for the holiday weekend to be here? We are counting down the days at our house. Prior to having kids, we would spend the holiday at a lake outside of Austin, TX with our college friends. The last couple of years though we’ve found it easier to stay a little closer to home. So, we typically pack up and spend the long weekend at my in-laws laying poolside and cooking fun meals. We’re especially excited this year because we get to celebrate my brother-in-law’s 30th birthday!

I may be “go-with-the-flow” about some things, but when it comes to packing and outfit planning, I am type-A to the extreme. I’ve already started several lists – my outfits, the girls’ outfits, and bathing suits of course. When planning looks for a holiday, I love staying within the typical holiday colors. For this weekend I centered our outfits around red, white, and blue, but of course lean a bit more toward the white looks. This year I wanted a couple new outfits to wear since we’ll be celebrating a big birthday, but I didn’t want to spend an outrageous amount of money on clothes. So naturally, I went to my absolute favorite consignment store – Clotheshorse Anonymous.

Y’all, they have so many cute pieces right now and I’m telling you, if you know what you’re looking for and know how to shop consignment well, you will leave with more than one item! If you’re new to consignment, here’s a post on how to shop consignment clothes and here’s another post on how to shop everyday pieces from consignment. Anyway, here is what I had in mind when I went to Clotheshorse Anonymous looking for memorial day looks:

what to look for when shopping consignment for memorial day:

  • red, white or blue pieces
  • red and white or blue and white stripes
  • straw shoes
  • wedges
  • straw or woven hand bags
  • white jeans
  • white accessories
  • patriotic swim suits or coverups

what I found for memorial day:

I actually found a ton! I am sharing all the outfits and brands that I found on my instagram stories later today, so be sure to check them out! I found items like Trina Turk tops, white jeans from Frame, a Gianni Bini white skirt, a Tory Burch top, a Moon River romper, and so much more. But, my all time favorite piece and what I ended up walking away with was this gorgeous blue and white stripe dress from Tory Burch. Y’all, I got this dress for under $100! Can you believe it? I was shocked!

This dress, perfectly suited for the pool or the beach, is one of the most flattering dresses I’ve tried on in awhile. The tie in the back allows you to give form to the dress and show off your figure. I love too, that it can so easily be dressed down to work like a coverup, or dressed up for dinner out. To dress it down I would wear flat sandals and a straw hat. To dress it up like I did in today’s post and like I plan on doing over the weekend, I would pair it with heels and a fun summer bag.

it’s not too late!

If you’re reading this and thinking well, crap, I should have tried to find something for Memorial Day, you’re not too late if you’re a Dallasite! Ladies – Clotheshorse Anonymous puts out new items daily and they are one of the most organized consignment stores. It’s so easy to shop there and I guarantee you’ll find something for the holiday weekend! If you end up finding something, please share as I’d love to see what goodies you find!
