Hello, loves! I hope you’re having a great day today! I started my day by reading a little of Unexpected – my latest book. Y’all, it’s so good! The quote I really resonated with today from Christine Caine (author) was this – “…God is always using our present to prepare us for our future.” I just loved that. No matter what stage of life we’re in or how “stuck” we feel, God is using it – all of it! He’s using our life and every single moment right now to shape us for the future; for whatever work he has in store for us! How cool is that? It’s exactly what this mama needed to hear this morning!
Back to business though…how stinking cute is this ruffle dress? It’s from Goodnight Macaroon – a company new to me, and so far I really do like everything I’ve ordered from them. The prices are reasonable and the quality is good. Anyway, I wanted to have a little fun when styling this dress, so I opted for sneakers instead of pumps or cute sandals! I recently received this pair from Trask and they are honestly too comfortable not to wear every day.
I was a little timid about wearing sneakers with a dress, but I decided to go for it the only way I know how! And that way? Keeping it true to my personal style! I have friends that could probably wear some funky color or metallic sneakers with this dress and it would look killer. That would look ridiculous on me though. Instead, I decided to stay with my color palate – neutrals – and pull a color out of the dress. I played on the white polka dots and matched it with my sneakers.
NOTE: I felt like this dress might be a little see through (I couldn’t tell), so I wore this slip skirt underneath just to be safe!
So how do you style sneakers with a dress? You just stay true to your own style. Pick a shoe you genuinely love and one that’s comfortable. Then either match it to a color in your dress, stay in the same color family for a monochromatic look, or pick a contrasting color, and go for it! Wear it with confidence and sass.
