November Capsule Wardrobe: Fall Sweaters & Flattering Leggings

So excited to be launching the November capsule wardrobe featuring all the fall sweaters!

I took a poll on Instagram several weeks ago asking you all what you wear the most in the fall. The top two answers did not come as a shock to me and they won’t to you either! The majority of you said that your number one item for fall was either faux leather leggings or fall sweaters.

Since you all seemed so aligned on your fall wardrobe staples, I made sure to include a lot of fall sweaters in this month’s capsule. I also included the ever-so-popular faux leather leggings and new $35 black leggings I discovered!

November Capsule Wardrobe:

As I said earlier, I tried to keep the focus of this month’s capsule wardrobe on fall sweaters. I wanted to pick sweaters that were a bit oversized so they could be worn with jeans or over leggings. I also felt like it was important to include a couple tanks and tops that would be good for layering. Layering tops are so important, too, if you live somewhere warmer like Dallas because you don’t always want to wear a chunky sweater.

The items I picked out for this month’s capsule were chosen with the idea in mind that you could wear these pieces all fall and winter long. Most of the pieces are crazy affordable, but I did include a couple higher price point items. As much as I try to keep things under $50, there are some pieces that are just worth investing. Investment pieces will be classic in style and will last for years!

Tops:

U-Neck Tank Top – This $15 tank is so good y’all. I got it in white last month and ended up wearing it so much I bought it in black to layer with this Fall, too.

Black V-Neck Bodysuit – When I’m layering under a cape or cardigan, I like to have a top that’s a bit more form-fitting. I got this bodysuit last year and wore it a ton. I plan on layering with it this season, too!

Long Sleeve White Tee – I wanted a white option for layering too, but didn’t necessarily want another bodysuit. I picked up this top over the weekend and love the way it fits. It can stand along with jeans or leggings and also looks great layered under a cardigan!

Sweaters:

Collarless Sweater-Blazer – this sweater blazer is most definitely the one piece I’d recommend you invest in. It is a great layering piece, can act as a coat if you life somewhere warmer, and can be worn almost all year long! I would suggest going down one size.

Madewell Sweater Cardigan – I wanted a sweater cardigan that was a bit less formal than the sweater blazer above. I love the long v-neck of this one and the front buttons. I think it will look so cute with faux leather leggings and the white tank. I also think it will be adorable with ripped denim and the black bodysuit!

Long Sleeve Turtleneck Sweaters – albeit different brands, these two turtleneck sweaters are too good to have in just one color. I first got the white sweater and loved the fit of it so much I got it in black, too.

Free People Ottoman Tunic – this is another piece that is worth investing in. I got this one two years ago and I wear it all the time. It can be worn with jeans or over leggings, and if you’re short, you can wear it as a dress, too!

Ribbed Henley Sweater – this is another one of those sweaters that’s too good to only have in one color. I got this one in cream and grey. I normally size down in this brand, but stayed true to size for a more relaxed fit.

Waffle Overzised Crew Sweater – this may be one of my favorite pieces. I love it so much I grabbed it in another color, too!

Outerwear:

Oversized X-Boyfriend Flannel Shirt – okay, so technically this could fall under the “tops” category. However, hear me out. The flannel shirt/jacket trend is really big right now. I think it’s a fun trend, but honestly, the flannel jackets I’ve been seeing just look so bulky. So, I grabbed this flannel shirt in my true size and plan on wearing it as a layering piece.

Trench Coat – it took me a long time to invest in a trench coat, but I finally did last year and I’m so glad I did. It’s such a classic piece. It’s also a great jacket to layer with in November because it’s not too cold yet. I personally own this one, but it’s backordered until February. This one is almost the exact same thing though!

Black Leather Jacket – in hopes that you’re getting out into the real world (unlike me), I included a leather jacket. It’s another classic piece, but feels a little more chic for date night or girls’ night out.

Bottoms:

Faux Leather Leggings – if you’ve ever debated buying these leggings, do it. They are worth every penny! I have had mine for 3 years now and they still look great. They suck you in and make your legs look so good! I love wearing them in the fall/winter with oversized sweaters and boots!

High Rise Ankle Leggings – in addition to faux leather leggings, I wanted a pair of leggings that wasn’t quite as loud. I found these for only $35 and think I’ll get so much wear out of them!

Perfect Vintage Jeans – straight leg jeans are big right now and I am loving this pair. They fit so well (size down one size), and look great with fall sweaters!

Target Distressed Straight Jeans – can you believe these jeans are from Target? They fit so well and are only $22! I ended up cutting the hem on mine for a more distressed look. I also sized up one size.

Cozy Joggers – I don’t think I could create a capsule without including some joggers. I love these joggers because they are perfect for lounging. They have the cutest matching sweatshirt! I also think they would be so cute styled with the black tank and black leather jacket.

I hope you feel inspired by my November picks! Be sure to follow me on Instagram to see how I style these fall sweaters and capsule wardrobe pieces!

My Go-To November Accessories:

Accessories should most definitely be able to last all season long and hopefully year after year. This fall I plan on styling this bag with all of my outfits. I also plan on continuing to wear my white leather mules and my cognac mules. And, my Brixton fedora will no doubt be making multiple appearances.
