Chic New Year’s Eve Outfits for Staying in and Going Out

Happy holiday season! Yesterday was one of those days I felt fully immersed in the holiday experience. I spent the day getting last minute Christmas gifts, finishing stocking stuffers, wrapping gifts, and witnessing holiday angst. It was a great day! Now that we’ve checked everything off our list, we’re ready to hit the road to Chicago. We’re leaving for the Windy City today after our girls’ school Christmas parties and we could not be more excited! Crossing our fingers we see snow this week!

Isn’t it crazy to think that Christmas is less than a week away? It feels just as crazy to think that New Year’s Eve is right around the corner too! Sometimes it feels so far away because our minds get clouded and our energy is consumed by all things Christmas, but it will be here before we know it!

Traditionally, we drive down to San Antonio for NYE to spend the holiday with sweet friends. We cook dinner, order in, play outside, and do all the things to wear our kids out. Then, when the kids go down, we stay up late playing games – usually Settlers of Catan. With NYE being midweek this year however, we aren’t going to be able to swing a San Antonio trip. Such a bummer! While we firm up our plans for this year though, a girl can shop right?

I see it like this, there are really 3 types of New Year’s Eve plans – getting swanky and going out to a party, attending a house party, or laying low at home in your sweats. I love all three options, but for this stage in my life, I’m probably going with the last option this year. No matter your plans though, I’ve got you covered from sequin dresses to casual cute to sweat pants.

For today’s post, I created two looks for you guys. The first –  a sequin dress – is a great option if you have somewhere fun to go! I love this dress on it’s own – the vneck in the front and back is such a fun neckline. It’s sexy without showing too much skin or cleavage. If you get cold easily like I do, you can always layer a cute sweater over your dress. I layered this fuzzy white sweater over this dress and it looks equally as festive!

I also created an option for a house party or a more casual NYE event. These wide leg metallic pants are so fun, right? I have this style of pant in two colors and when I saw the metallic version, I couldn’t resit. I love the way they fit (size down 1) and the subtle shimmer. I paired it with a simple bodysuit and a printed belt. I would definitely recommend wearing heels with these pants as it will keep you from drowning in all the fabric.

No matter what you decide to do, I hope you’ll scroll through the images below and find the perfect outfit! If there’s something specific you’re looking for and can’t find, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
