Happy Hump Day and welcome to the first “Wedding Wednesday!” Travis and I got married on March 19th six years ago and so I thought it would be fun to do a little mini series during our wedding month. This series will address things from what to wear to a shower to budget tips to photography dos and don’ts. Although I have set topics, if there’s anything you want me to talk about specifically, please don’t hesitate to leave it in the comments below or email me!
Today’s topic as I’m sure you gleamed from the title is all about what to wear to a wedding shower. It’s kind of funny for me to look back at the outfits I wore to my showers because I would have chosen completely different outfits today. Choosing what to wear to a shower is not an easy task though. Is it okay to wear white? Is it okay to wear black? Is wearing a form-fitting dress okay? Is wearing a trendy dress okay even if you’re having a traditional wedding? Is it okay to wear a romper instead of a dress? These are just a few of the questions I asked myself.
What to wear to a shower can be influenced by so many factors, the theme, the time of day, and the type of guests that will be there. We all want to look our best, but trying to achieve a classic look and yet showing off that rocking bod you’ve been working on can be a bit of a challenge. After all, you don’t want to let it all hang out with your MIL in attendance, but you still want to look and feel sexy and beautiful, right?
When I first set out to write this post I thought it would be super easy, but let’s be real, there is definitely more than one type of shower to dress for. There are bridal luncheons, couples showers, around-the-clock showers, stock-the-bar showers, holiday showers, kitchen showers, destination showers, non-themed showers, and his & her showers to name a few. Each shower will have a different theme, a different type of guest, and a different type of outfit.

PS – I thought it might be fun, too, to share some photos from my wedding showers. Now, don’t judge my outfits, this was 2014/2015, and don’t judge the photo quality/sizing either because this was who knows what generation iPhone. xx
