Happy Friday, Fleurdille family!!! It’s finally the weekend and that calls for a celebration! We’re already in celebration mode since we had the privilege of celebrating Trav all day yesterday; another year older, another year wiser is what they say, right?
Following new trends for each season can feel a bit overwhelming, am I right? There are so many jean trends happening right now that it almost seems too hard to keep up! Instead of trying to follow each and every new trend, I typically pick a couple that I really resonate with and that work with my body type.
When it comes to denim trends, there are 3 jean trends that every gal needs to know about. These are trends that will easily transition into the summer and are both fun and flattering. The 3 jean trends I am loving are wide leg denim, cropped denim, and distressed hem lines.
wide leg denim:
I absolutely love this trend. It’s such a fun change up from our typical form-fitting jeans. They’re super easy to style, too, as they look great with flats or heels. If you’re on the shorter side like me, I recommend wearing your wide leg jeans with heels to elongate your figure. This way you won’t get swallowed up by your jeans. I do recommend buying only one pair of wide leg jeans and the reason for that is that this is a denim trend we don’t know if it will be around next year. If you are going to invest in one pair though, I highly recommend the wide leg jeans by Madewell and definitely go down one size. I got the Emmett velveteen pants last fall as well as this green pair (on sale) and this metallic pair. I wore them all the time. They just came out with a ton of spring colors including denim and they are definitely worth it. NOTE: if you buy jeans from Madewell, always take your receipt in within 7 days as well as an old pair of denim and you’ll get $20 off!
This is a trend I was always leery of because I thought it made my short figure look squatty. I’ve realized though if you buy skinny jeans that are cropped, it can look so cute and flattering! I got this pair from Madewell last week and love them! The button fly is super trendy right now, too, and the wash is a good basic color.
distressed hem lines:
This next trend is such a fun one! We are seeing all kinds of variations on distressed hem lines on jeans this season. What’s great about this trend, too, is that we are seeing distressed jeans being dressed up and being dressed down. They don’t have to be casual! In fact, I think they make an even bigger statement when paired with a fun pair of heels – it draws your eyes to the hem line. This white pair of distressed hem line jeans is definitely going to be a staple in my Spring wardrobe.
PS – I realized after typing this that all of the Spring denim I’ve purchased happens to be from Madewell. This post is definitely not sponsored and my all-Madewell suggestions was not intentional. I simply love the way Madewell jeans fit and I love the price point, especially when you bring in an old pair of denim and get $20 off. If you haven’t worn Madewell jeans before, I would suggest ordering your normal size and one size down. I am typically one size down in their jeans.
