Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! We spent the weekend laying low as Abby gradually started to feel better. We also had the privilege of taking care of our friends’ boys as one of my best friends welcomed her 3rd son into this world! Definitely the highlight of our weekend! I usually hate to see the weekend go, but admittedly, I’m super excited to start this work week. Why? Well, if the weather forecast is right, it will dip into the 70s here in Dallas, which is huge! And that means us Dallasites can enjoy some of these Fall trends without sweating to death.
Today’s post is centered around the oversized blazer trend. I frequently refer to ELLE’s Fall 2017 Fashion Trends guide to stay on top of the latest trends and this is one of them! Menswear has made big impact on women’s fashion this season. From tracksuits to blazers, menswear is creeping into our wardrobe. For this specific trend – the oversized blazer, look for blazers that have a boxy structure, are a bit oversized, and hit a bit longer than your fitted blazers.
Now, onto today’s look! I originally grabbed this blazer to wear with jeans and booties, but in order to prolong the life of this little guy, I brainstormed other ways to wear it, too. Even though the blazer looks more like menswear, I still want it to have a feminine feel. So, I paired it with this flowy pleated skirt (another trend) in this gorgeous peachy color. I love that simply adding a softer fabric, a feminine color, and a bit of movement gives this blazer life and a touch of femininity.
Don’t get me wrong though, there are so many other ways to style this blazer. I just got this gingham shirt (on SALE) from JCREW and am so excited to style it under this blazer. With jeans, booties, and the buttons undone, it makes a great Fall look! How would you style this blazer?
