Open Gym

pg2

As a mom of a toddler, I am constantly looking for new activities for Emma Grace. One of our absolute favorite places to frequent is the Children’s Garden at the Dallas Arboretum. However, if it’s cold or rainy outside, we’re out of luck. Luckily, one of our sweet friends introduced us to The Palaestra a couple of weeks ago. It’s a gymnastics center that has an open gym every Friday from 9:30 – 11:00 am. Although it’s not free – it’s a $7 admission fee, it’s pretty darn close and much cheaper than any other place we’ve looked into. After one visit you will be hooked; promise. They open up their entire gym with the exception of some of the high beams, and let the kids play at their will. Some of the older kids can play on their own while their moms sit on the sideline and relax. Since EG is only 18 months, I took off my shoes and braved the gym with her. Moms – it’s incredible! It is such a great way to burn off some energy that hopefully results in a long afternoon nap. 🙂

note: the age range is crawling to 6 years, so you don’t have to worry about your little one getting trampled on; Also, if your little guy or gal decides to brave the foam pit like Emma did, I’m giving you a fair warning that it is a sock stealer – beware!
