Can you tell I’m still smiling? Last Friday I woke up bright and early with one of my besties and caught the 6 AM flight to NYC! My friend and I are big lovers of fashion and of the Big Apple, so we were beyond excited! Before taking off, we set our intention for our trip – to have fun, stay relaxed, and soak it all in! I have heard countless stories of bloggers heading to fashion week only to leave famished, stressed, and depleted. I didn’t want that to be my story, so I set out to write a different story.
My friend and I agreed that we’d go to the shows and events we wanted to, but we would soak in the NYFW atmosphere too. We wanted to spend time wearing the outfits we had created, trying new restaurants, meeting new people, and being inspired by fashion. We wanted to enjoy it thoroughly and that’s exactly what we did!
The weekend ended up being full of all the things – food, fashion, drinks, and exploration. It left us feeling rejuvenated and inspired. Even though we were there for only 3 days, it’s a lot to recap. So, I will share my experiences and outfits throughout this week and next as well as tips on where to stay and what to eat. So, stay tuned!
Today I’m going to start by sharing my favorite look of the weekend. Planning outfits for New York Fashion Week was probably my favorite part of the prep. The outfits were also my favorite part of the weekend. Seeing everyone in their element, decked in their own personal style is so inspiring! A lot of you have asked my thought process behind choosing outfits – such a good question! The main thing I wanted to do with each look was to showcase a big trend for the season while staying true to my personal style and brand. I also wanted to elevate my style from everyday feminine style a bit to have some fun! I mean, how often do you get to wear a beautiful dress or sequins during the day? Only in the city and only during New York Fashion Week.
So the big trend behind this look? Florals! If you haven’t noticed, floral prints are big this Fall. We are seeing all different types of floral prints – big and small – in all different colors and styles! I wanted to stay true to my feminine style, so I opted to stick with the blush hues and feminine, pleated fabric that flowed in the wind. I loved the lace detailing on the shoulders and back of this dress as well – right up my feminine alley. Because I was wearing this dress while walking the streets of NYC, I wanted to dress it down as much as I could. So, I paired it with a waist bag – another big trend for Fall. This one was super affordable and came in black, too. Although I would have worn the black more, I loved how this color pulled out some of the darker hues of this dress and kept the look soft and feminine.
