How to Make a Statement with a Monochromatic Look

Find out my biggest tip for making a fashion statement with a monochromatic look. It's a lot simpler than you think and doesn't cost a lot!

Hi, lovelies! I’m not going to lie, I started today reading yesterday’s post about setting a good, positive tone for your home. It seems like such an easy task when everything is going smoothly. However, I feel like I have 9 thousand balls up in the air right now and  that’s when it get’s hard. When anxiety creeps in is when I struggle a bit more to stay focused on fostering a positive tone in my home. So, today I’m attempting to take the day/week head on and put my kiddos and family first!

Okay, so can we talk about how cute (and inexpensive) today’s look is? My jeans are Topshop from last season, but I linked two similar ones that I linked below. I love the skinny fit, the hight waist, and the ripped knees is such a fun touch. It’s about as edgy as I’ll go, haha.

I feel like the pieces that steal the show in today’s look though are my sweater and bag and both were found at Asos! I feel like I go through phases with Asos, and I’m not sure why. They have such cute clothes, great name brands, and the most reasonable prices. They also offer two-day shipping for only $19/year, which is worth it if you’re going to shop there more than twice in a year!

I have to say a word about this sweater though. A couple of weeks ago I was having a discussing with one of my friends about the fact that Abercrombie & Fitch and American Eagle are making a comeback. They’re actually doing an amazing job at rebranding so do check them out if you haven’t. Anyway, we just talked about how crazy it was that those were the big brands when we were teens and pre-teens and now they’re back. Well, fast-forward to about a week ago when I was shopping for the blog. I saw this sweater and loved it. I loved the color, the texture, and the oversized fit. I ordered it immediately and…when I got it you’ll never guess who the brand was! Hollister! You guys, is that not just as big of a blast from the past as A&F? It feels crazy to love something from Hollister as a 32 year old, but it’s too good to pass up!

Creating a monochromatic looks is one of my favorite things. I love the clean, crisp vibe it gives off! I used to get nervous about creating a monochromatic look because I thought my “style” would get lost in the wearing the same color. But, that’s not so! It is so easy to make a statement with a monochromatic look by doing one thing. Pick one piece of your look and elevate it a bit. For example, in this post instead of wearing my classic neutral clutch, I opted to let my clutch do the talking. Adding embellishment to one piece of your look will make such a big statement. So, in this case I chose this sphere clutch with pearls on it. It’s a unique piece and ends up being a big talking piece.

I love creating a statement or talking piece this way because you can really let your personality shine. You can opt for feminine embellishment like I did today with pearls. Or, you could go for a bright, bold color. You could even opt for a fun shape. Pick what works for you!
