Do you ever have one of those days, months, or even years where you feel like you’re being thrown a curve ball left and right? For me, that’s kind of been the theme of this past year. Right around the time Abigail was born I realized how tough this year was compared to other’s in my marriage and even in my life. I felt completely out of control, and even though I knew God’s plan is always better than mine, I didn’t know if I could take it on alone.
From a tough birth experience to quitting my job right before giving birth and hoping I could find something 9 months pregnant to my husband finishing up getting his MBA to health scares on my end, this has been quite the unpredictable year for us. Knowing I couldn’t take on this year alone, I knew I needed something more, and that’s about the time I stumbled across Isaiah 40:31:
“but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint...”
What I love about this verse is that it’s a verse of hope. Not only does God promise to face each trial with us head on, but if we trust in Him, He will give us strength to get through whatever life may throw at us. Referring back to this verse throughout the year and being reminded of it when I wore this shirt helped me to feel assured that I can do all things through Christ. When life seems crazy, unpredictable, unfair, you name it, if I seek and trust in the Lord, He will renew my strength. He will help me endure it. I don’t have to do it alone. How amazing is that!?
