how to wear neon in your 30s and up

This post was created in collaboration with Clotheshorse Anonymous. All  looks are styled by me and all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting those brands that support Fleurdille.

Hi, babes! Have you caught on to this trend yet? The neon trend? Can you believe it’s making such a big debut this season? Well, whether we like it or not, neon is here to stay! It’s big, it’s bright, and it’s bold! It’s a fun contrast to our typical jewel-tone fall hues. Figuring out how to pull off the neon trend is a different story though…

There are definitely women out there rocking this statement in head-to-toe neon outfits and looking like boss babes! I however, a young mom in her 30s, just don’t see myself wearing a highlighter yellow jumpsuit or a neon pink maxi dress to drop my kids off at school anytime soon. For me, I gravitate more toward a subtle pop of color.

In order to dip my toe in the neon trend, I am opting to make a more subtle statement. I am pairing my neon items with minimal pieces. For example, this Love Maschino dress from Clotheshorse Anonymous simply has a neon yellow necklace – a statement bold enough for me!

I also grabbed this Rebecca Minkoff bag with neon piping around it while I was at Clotheshorse Anonymous. The piping gives a nod to the neon trend and allows me to continue to dress in neutral, warmer hues for fall. Honestly, I am so grateful for Clotheshorse Anonymous for finding designer pieces at a major discount when shopping trends like this one. The neon trend is definitely one of those trends that will not stand the longevity of time. Therefore, it’s not a trend I want to invest in financially. Luckily, I can get some key designer pieces via consignment without spending much at all!
