HOW TO MAKE MONEY and STAY HOME

Hi, Fleurdille family! I hope your week is off to a great start! For quite some time now you all have been asking for me to share how I make an income. While it seems like a personal question, y’all know I’m an open book and pride myself on being authentic and transparent with you guys. So, I finally sat down and wrote it all out for you – how to make money and stay at home. My hope in today’s post is that I can encourage you in your personal financial journey and/or inspire you to add new avenue streams to your current financial situation.

I know a lot of the women in our Fleurdille family are young moms and I know too, that a lot of us desire stay at home with our kids. I also know that with our current global situation, there are many of you that may be jobless, making less money, or are worried about your financial future. So, if you’re looking for a way to add another revenue stream, even if it’s not blogging, I hope you find today’s post helpful.

Although this is completely unrelated to Fleurdille Creative, LLC, there is a revenue stream I have to mention – being a Speech-Language Pathologist. In 2012 I graduated with a masters degree in Communication Disorders and became a fully licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. I worked full-time for Mesquite ISD until I had kids and then shifted to part-time. It’s something I am very passionate about and enjoy doing. Although I don’t do therapy as much anymore, I supervise 3 Speech-Language Pathologist Assistants in Mesquite ISD and work about 20 hours per week. We’ve debated me quitting several times, but ultimately, I think I will always practice in some capacity. I truly love the work and the women I get to be around and I want to keep my clinical skills relevant as well.

HOW TO MAKE MONEY AND STAY AT HOME

COLLABORATIONS:

This is the most lucrative revenue stream for me. I will be honest that when I first started my blog I relied almost solely on affiliate networks for my income. I gradually learned though that affiliate income ebbs and flows. So, several years ago I shifted my focus to brand collaborations and it was the best financial decision I have made for Fleurdille. Thanks to courses such as Pitch It Perfect, I have learned and am still learning every day how to pitch my brand and secure brand deals.

In an effort to remain authentic and true to my brand values, I strive to work only with those brands that align with my values. I work with companies that I genuinely love and use their products and work to develop long-term relationships with them. Brand collaborations typically pay a much larger sum of money than what I would make on selling a top through an affiliate network.

AFFILIATE NETWORKS:

While this isn’t the main way I make money, affiliate networks like RewardStyle provide a steady stream of income each month. If you’re unfamiliar with affiliate networks, these are companies that provide you commission when someone purchases an item from you. For example, if I link to a top from Nordstrom in a blog post via RewardStyle, it will route you through their affiliate network to Nordstrom’s site. Then, if you purchase the site, I will get a portion of that sale (the percentage depending on the brand).

BEAUTYCOUNTER:

If you’re not an influencer, but want to learn how to make money to stay at home, this revenue stream is a great option. In 2019 I made the choice to start switching my beauty products to clean products. After doing a bit of research I determined Beautycounter was a great brand to start with due to the variety of their products, their transparency, and the fact that I could simply order it online. Hello, easy button. When I realized how much I was spending on it, I decided to become a consultant simply because I could make money off of myself!

The cool thing about Beautycounter is that it is what you want it to be. I knew I didn’t want this to be my full-time job and I didn’t want it to be a stressful revenue stream. So, I joined a truly incredible team. A team that recognizes the Beautycounter business looks different for everyone. My team doesn’t push me to do anything, to host parties, or do anything outside of my comfort zone. My amazing team simply celebrates the clean beauty products we love and shares those products with people we love and know!

Like I said, when I originally became a consultant I did it simply because I knew I’d make money on myself based on the amount of products I was purchasing. However, it’s been neat to see this side stream of revenue grow each month. I try to never push a product on someone, but rather share the products that are positively affecting my skin!

If you’re truly interested in becoming a consultant, please feel free to email me at hello@fleurdille.com and we can chat more!

SCOUT & CELLAR:

This has been the most unexpected revenue stream for me. For years I have struggled with endometriosis and chronic inflammation which has directly affected what I eat and drink. Years ago I switched to clean, non-American wine to decrease inflammation and therefore pain. Well, fast-forward to last April, when I visited a friend and tried Scout & Cellar‘s clean-crafted wine for the first time. This wine completely changed my wine-drinking. I was able to drink wine without feeling abdominal pain after and without any headaches.

After doing some research and learning more about the company itself, I realized that not only does Scout & Cellar market clean-crafted wine, but it supports sustainable wineries that have been making wine for years! So, Travis and I did the research and realized that much like Beautycounter, we would actually make money on ourselves with the amount of wine we purchase/month. So, I signed up to be a consultant. As with all good things, it’s hard to keep something you love a secret. So, over the past year I have created another revenue stream with Scout & Cellar simply by sharing my love for clean-crafted wine with friends, family, and you of course!

Again, please don’t hesitate to email me at hello@fleurdille.com if this is something you’re interested in!

POSHMARK:

This is such a small part of my revenue streams, but I wanted to share it with you guys because it’s something EVERYONE can do from the comfort of their own home! Whether you make $25 or $100 or $500 a week, you can easily sell your clothes on Poshmark for extra income!
