Hi, babes!
Cinco De Mayo is a week away and our family is super excited! We have some sweet neighborhood friends that host a party every year that is so fun my girls have been counting down the days for weeks. We also have a Cinco De Mayo themed school party that Friday. Needless to say, I wanted to have a couple cute outfits ready for all the celebrations.
I typically just wear my Mumu on Cinco De Mayo, but thought it might be fun to change it up a bit this year. With all the school functions and themed parties coming up though, I did not want to spend a ton of money on new outfits. So, I challenged myself to stay under $100 for both events total.
I’d been seeing more Cinco De Mayo themed pieces at Clotheshorse Anonymous lately, so I decided to try there first. I’m so glad I did, too! Right when I walked in I was flooded with colorful pieces and they had a whole rack of Cinco De Mayo themed pieces.
Cinco De Mayo Outfit Inspiration:
OUTFIT #1:
I ended up finding a J.Marie top. This is a great brand and tops typically retail for about $100. I think one of the easiest ways to dress up for Cinco De Mayo is simply by wearing a mumu dress or top. I have a dress, but think a top is a bit easier to style. It’s something you can wear to work with white jeans or a skirt and then dress it down with some denim cutoffs.
OUTFIT #2:
I also wanted to create an outfit for y’all that was easy to copy with items you may already have in your closet. So, I searched for a skirt I could wear with a top I already owned. If you’re not wearing something super festive like a mumu, opt for bright colors and let our accessories do the talking.
I ended up finding this BCBG wrap skirt and thought it would pair perfectly with my bright pink bodysuit. I loved the colors and patterns of the skirt; the colors reminded me of all the vibrant colors that are so prominent in the Mexican culture.
