Austin Travel Guide

This past weekend my husband and I had the chance to sneak away for the weekend to Austin (sans baby) to visit some of our good friends. One of our very favorite things to do when we visit new cities and cities we’ve been to previously¬†is to try out new, local restaurants. So, our sweet friends and fabulous tour guides took us to three new places that were just too good not to share with you! On Friday night we went to Swift’s Attic, a farm to table restaurant that offers the most delicious small plates. We loved the charred edamame (served with pop rocks…how cool!), the pork cheeks, and the squid fries, and we cannot wait to go back and try more! In addition to being known for their creative dishes, their drink menu is to die for with 14 local, draft beers, plenty of vino, and crafty cocktails. Although I didn’t get to partake in the alcoholic beverage part of the menu, the rest of the table did and they looked deeeelish!

After a slow morning of coffee and catching up, we spent almost our entire Saturday poolside. So for dinner we knew we wanted to be part of the Saturday night hustle, but we wanted something more low key. We headed to Home Slice Pizza on Congress and enjoyed individual pizza slices, beer, and lots of laughs. To end our night on a sweet note, we got ice cream from Lick. Y’all, this ice cream is uh-mazing. Lick only uses natural ingredients, no preservatives, and they have the most creative flavors like¬†Texas Sheet Cake, Goat Cheese Thyme & Honey, Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint, and so many more!

Before heading home to our sweet girl on Sunday we tried one last place for Sunday brunch: epicerie. Oh my word, y’all. It was so good. From the southern, rustic decor with unique touches like leather ceiling tiles to the charming corner store inside selling local honey, wine, cheese and more, the environment was just as much a part of the experience as the food. And the food…I recommend the shrimp and grits and a side of their fabulous beignets!
