2020 trend alert: how to pull off high slits for spring

Can I pull this off? Am I too old? Am I showing too much skin? Is this the right trend for me? Do any of these questions sound familiar? These were some of the questions that went through my head as I tried this dress on. One of the trends you’ll be seeing this Spring and Summer is a high slit. I think it’s super chic and can definitely make you feel sexy, but as a young mom in her 30s, it’s a little daunting, too.

In reality, I would love to sport a skirt like this knit skirt, but I’m not sure it’s exactly “carpool” appropriate. What I’ve been looking for when it comes to the slit trend are slits that are still considered high, but more mid-thigh. It’s fun to show a little leg on date night, but I don’t need to show it all. This under $50 dress has been the winner so far. It’s super comfortable too and very versatile. It’s still a bit chilly here, so I paired it with this uber affordable denim jacket. But some spring and I’ll be wearing it solo with a cute belt or something!

tips for pulling off a high slit:

  • wear heels to elongate your figure
  • let the slit do the talking and go easy on the rest of your outfit – stick to monochrome colors if possible
  • spanx are always a good idea – suck it all in 🙂
  • wear tights if you feel self-concious
  • don’t let the slit go past mid-thigh

PS – if you still aren’t sure if the slit trend is for you, this dress is a great option and gives the same effect!
