Happy Thursday, loves! I don’t know about y’all, but I have a big time travel itch going on. Thankfully, I have a girls trip to San Celemente, CA on the horizon, so of course I’ve already started packing. And by packing, I mean I’ve started creating multiple lists on my wunderlist app. I usually create 3 lists when I fly somewhere: my clothing, my toiletries, and my carry-on bag. I’ll be sharing what I’m wearing to San Clemente in more detail as we get closer to the trip, but for today we’re sticking to my go-to airport outfit and the most practical bag to carry on a plane!
When I plan my travel outfit, I have one main goal in mind: comfort. I want to be able to move easily, feel comfortable in a plane seat, have great walking shoes, and look cute while doing so of course. I usually opt for leggings for several reasons. First of all, they’re comfortable and go with a lot. Secondly, I usually work out when I travel, so I know I’ll get dual use out of leggings.
I also opt for a loose-fit top. Since it’s winter, I typically wear a comfortable sweater. I grabbed this Kenneth Cole sweater from Clotheshorse Anonymous for dirt cheap. It was in mint condition, is well-made notable brand, and will lend itself to several outfit options as well. Easy to travel in, but super cute paired with denim and mules for another outfit option on my trip. Then of course, I paired my outfit with my go-to sneakers. Lucky for us, sneakers with almost anything – jeans, skirts, leggings, etc. – are on-trend, so you can be comfy and cute!
And the final piece of the outfit is the bag! I’ve carried many-a-tote to finally figure out the most practical bag to carry on a plane. What I look for in a carry-on tote are 3 things: a structured body, protection for electronics, and multiple compartments. I found this Michael Kors tote (similar) on major discount from Clotheshorse Anonymous this past month and grabbed it as quickly as I could. It is the perfect travel bag!
I always travel with my laptop so I like that this tote has a compartment to zip my laptop or iPad into safely. I love too that the middle zip pocket creates two large compartments on either side. I typically use one side for books and the other for miscellaneous travel necessities like lip gloss, gum, my phone, and pens.
The great thing about this $300+ tote, is that you can find it for a fraction of the cost by shopping consignment! Again, I got mine at Clotheshorse Anonymous and it was under $100 – crazy, right? No, they won’t have my exact bag, but y’all, they have this bag and others almost identical to it all the time! The bag section at Clotheshorse Anonymous is one of my favorite parts of the store. They get new inventory constantly and the bags are always great! So Dallas gals, get your booties to Clotheshorse Anonymous and pick up a new bag!!
