Do you have to spend a lot to get good resale pieces?

Hey guys! Can you believe we’re already half way through the week? As I sat down to write this month’s post with Clotheshorse Anonymous, it got me thinking…how many of you think you still have to spend quite a bit of money in order to get good quality pieces from a resale shop?

If you would have asked me that a couple of years ago before I really got into consignment shopping, I would have said yes, you most certainly have to spend a bit to get the good stuff. Yes, of course there are some very high end pieces from brands like Chanel, Zimmerman, and Louis Vuitton that will cost a bit more, but there is so much more than just high end clothing and accessories.

I always look at the high end items for those key pieces I’ve got my heart set on like a Chanel pin (hint hint, hubby), but I think the most fun part about shopping consignment is looking through the smaller brands and labels. If you’ve ever been to Clotheshorse Anonymous here in Dallas then you know how easy and how fun they make it! The front portion of their store is allocated for the high end items, and the back two-thirds is allocated for more reasonably priced clothing and accessories – we’re talking $15 – $150 range here.

Take this dress for example. I have been wanting a billowy summer maxi dress and haven’t found one in stores that fits my vision. Then I laid eyes on this one and I couldn’t resist trying it on. Truthfully, I thought it would be a bit more expensive than it was – it was less than $75! The quality was perfect – mint condition with no rips, tears, or stains, and I honestly had trouble believing it had ever been worn before.

The way Clotheshorse Anonymous selects their clothing may be the thing I love most about them and is probably the reason they are so popular. Every single item from the cheapest piece to the most expensive is in mint condition.
