Happy Monday, loves!! Oh man, y’all, there is so much goodness in today’s post! First of all, how cute is this pinafore? If you were born in the 80s then you probably remember wearing pinafores to church or if your school worn uniforms there’s no doubt you had a pinafore option in addition to the sexy skort you go to wear, too. But, if you’re like my little sis and you weren’t born until the 90s or later, then this is a whole new trend to you! Haha.
Even though I’m obsessed with this pinafore and think it would look super cute with a flared sleeve blouse underneath it, too, this post is not about the dress. In fact, today’s MUST HAVE MONDAY post is all about investing in jewelry that gives back. Allow me to introduce you to Akola Project.
Akola Project was started by a friend and a local Dallasite – Brittany Merrill. Each piece of jewelry is handmade and absolutely beautiful. But, it’s not the beauty of this jewelry that really sets it apart from other jewelry lines. It’s what we don’t see as the consumer that makes these necklaces so wonderful.
Each necklace is made to represent a single woman and a single story. Each necklace is made by a woman from the Dallas area or from Uganda and each necklace “empowers the woman who made it to actually re-design their stories to become ones read with dignity, grace, and honor.” You can read some of the inspiring stores here.
