midweek mentions:

  • Are you a bagel fan? I’ve seen a friend post at length about Shug’s Bagels near SMU Campus. The breakfast sandwiches looked insane, so we finally tried it this past weekend. Y’all! Oh my gosh was it good! Travis got the grilled cheese and I got the bagel and lox. It’s not the cheapest, but you get a whole lot of food and the flavor is bar-none! It’s definitely worth checking out!
  • Two months ago I tried out Nuuly for the first time. It’s a clothing rental company that allows you to rent 6 pieces a month for just under $90. They carry a lot of the brands Anthropologie carries plus some of my other favorite brands like Free People, Agolde, and LoveShackFancy. Figuring out your sizing is pretty easy if you read the reviews and then if you really like something you can buy it at a discounted rate and keep it. Honestly, it’s the perfect way to wear new pieces if you have a lot of events in a month and bonus – you’re reducing your carbon footprint! The best part, too, is that you can pause it at any time. I paused mine this month because I didn’t really have a need for it, but will unpause it in April as our calendar picks up.
  • Consistency is key, they say. I am channeling all the motivational sayings as I try to revamp my morning routine. I’ve gotten into the bad habit of sleeping in to the last minute and it’s made me way less productive. So, the last two mornings I’ve gotten up at 5 to workout, meditate, and work a bit. It’s been rough. But, I’m going to commit to 30 days to see if I can turn things around and make new habits.
  • It’s kind of crazy how quickly social media and devices can take over in your life, right? I’ve been trying to consciously scale back this week to allow for more creativity, productivity, and time with my family. I’ve started by not allowing myself to pick up my phone the first hour/hour and a half that I’m away. I’m also trying to take a book with me wherever I go so that I reach for that instead of scrolling through Instagram. I’ve also debated taking a social media break for a couple of days. With this job it feels crazy hard to take a break from social media, but I think it could be super fruitful for all parties. Have you ever taken a social media break?
