Happy Monday, loves! This may be the happiest Monday for us because we’re still on fall break! Emma Grace is at the high school today for a drill team camp with the Highlandettes and Abby and I are having a little one-on-one time. We have a couple errands to run, but we’ll also be visiting the ducks at the mall and maybe even stopping for ice cream! And you can bet your bum I’ll be wearing these cool new sneaks.
Do you guys ever feel like there are just some trends that were meant to be? Trends that collide perfectly with your every want and desire? Trends that say “hey, you may be chasing toddlers all day long, but you can look good doing it!?” To me that’s what the whole “dresses with sneakers” trend is. I mean, dresses with sneakers? Y’all, it’s really a thing! How did we get so lucky?
I love wearing dresses for the ease factor. But, heels, booties or mules aren’t always the most practical option when I’m running around with my girls. But sneakers with dresses? Yea, I can get behind that trend.
When I first caught wind of this trend, I didn’t think it was for everyone. Honestly, I thought only those women with a cool, edgy style could pull of dresses with sneakers. Then, I went to NYFW and saw this trend in so many forms. I saw women wearing sneakers with cotton dresses, velvet dresses, cocktail dresses, and evening gowns! I think that’s when it hit me that you really don’t have to do much to pull of this trend.
What makes this trend work is when you’re wearing a dress you are comfortable with. Pair your sneakers with whatever dress is in your closet; whatever dress exemplifies who you are. For me, I like to mix feminine vibes with everyday, practical wear. So, I paired my new white star sneaks with a pink velvet dress (feminine vibe) and a cargo jacket (practical). It works because it’s me and I feel comfortable.
