Hotel 48 Lex – favorite NYC hotel

Good morning and happy holiday weekend to some! I for one cannot wait for this work day to be over to start the holiday celebrations. My entire family is coming in town and it makes me giddy because I can’t recall the last time my brother, sister, and parents were able to coordinate our schedules. Hip hip hooray!

As many of you know if you follow me on instagram or snapchat (fleurdille), I recently traveled to NYC for a girls’ trip with my mother and sister. We try to take one every summer and have picked a new location each year. We’ve hiked in Colorado, laid on the beaches of Mexico, and this year we wanted to shop and explore the Big Apple!

As we were deciding where to stay, we knew we wanted our hotel to meet the following criteria: modern design, excellent customer service, centrally located, a good view, a smaller, more intimate atmosphere, and moderately priced. We’re not picky at all, are we?

We decided to stay at Hotel 48 Lex, a luxury hotel located right int he middle of Midtown, and we were surprised that they surpassed our expectations ten fold. Their goal is to provide a “home away from home” experience and they definitely achieve it from the way their staff treats you all the way to the amenities they provide.

To give you a little taste of their hospitality, let me share with you a little bit about our first experience. As we pulled up to the hotel we were greeted by not one, but two people that were standing outside. One person quickly grabbed our bags from the back of the cab and carried them indoors while the other person helped us out of the cab and greeted us by name. Talk about making you feel special!

When you walk into the hotel you are greeted by another individual who takes care of your lodging and bags. You feel like they were hired just to be at your service and make your experience outstanding.

Room-wise, the rooms overlook the streets of NYC and make you feel like you are part of the hustle and bustle of Midtown, giving you that true “big city” experience. We stayed in a corner suite that included a room and a living room with a pullout couch as well as a roomy bathroom. Yes, there are rooms with two queen beds, but we couldn’t give up the view of a corner suite!

Location-wise, Hotel 48 Lex is located right in the middle of Midtown. I’ll be sharing our itenerary next week, but for now I’ll say this: from our hotel we were able to walk to Central Park, to the MoMa, to the MET, to our broadway show, and of course to Madison Avenue for shopping.

Besides the great rooms, the outstanding service, and the great location, we loved Hotel 48 Lex’s Lounge on the second floor. This space, adorned with modern fixtures, a chic bar, and comfortable modern seating is perfect not just for enjoying breakfast in the morning, but for a couple of drinks in the evening. Every day from 5-6 PM, they have a happy hour that offers complimentary wine and cheese to all guests. We loved being able to come back from a day of exploration and relax with a glass of wine (or two) before setting out for dinner.

I tried to keep this post short & sweet, so if you have any specific questions, please feel free to email me at hello@fleurdille.com.
