Baby Update

Happy Tiny Tuesday, loves! It’s been awhile since I’ve done a true Tiny Tuesday post and I have no real excuse or reason except that I have just been savoring my days off with my girls! I’ve been letting them dictate our schedule rather than me trying to snap photos of them in cute outfits. I do promise that we will pick back up with Tiny Tuesday posts, but I thought in the meantime it would be fun to do a little update on my girls!

I realized the other night that I gave you all lots of “bumpdates,” but haven’t really given you any updates on Abby since she was born. If you follow me on instagram or facebook, then you probably have a little more insight into her personality, but I thought I’d share some here to update the rest of you!

Name: Abigail Claire Cobbs

Middle Name: Claire – if you followed along with my pregnancy then you know we were debating between two middle names: Scott and Claire. Scott is my father’s name (my first choice) and Claire is my middle name (Trav’s first choice). Trav and I wouldn’t budge from our first picks, so we left it to our emotions at the hospital. I will say that Trav let me make the final decision, and Claire won out – Abigail just seemed too feminine for a gender neutral name. I dunno…that or I was on a lot of meds, haha.

Nicknames: Oh, man, we’ve got a lot. “Sweet Sweet” was probably the first nickname Abby got, but the other front-runners are “Abby Little Shmabby” – given by me, and “The Shmabbs” – given by Emma Grace.

Age: 8 months

Stats: Abby’s stats have been pretty consistent so far. I felt like EG’s were all over the place until about 2 yrs old, but Abby’s have varied only slightly. Abby is 90% for height, 50% for weight and 75/80% for head circumference.

Food: Okay, I’ve been a slacker in this section. I started baby food with Abby a couple months late and have hesitated to introduce solid foods like banana and mum mums, etc. – it’s so sad, but I think I’m trying to keep her a baby as long as I can. I just don’t want her to grow up! I do get a weekly reminder every Sunday that I need to start solids when I have to tell the nursery at church that my child is not allowed to have cheerios unlike all the other 7 and 8 month old babies. Bluh.

Sleep Schedule: I don’t know why, but we’ve been blessed with two good sleepers. Both of our girls were sleeping through the night by 6 weeks and now they both go down at 7pm and don’t wake up until 6/6:30 am. Trav and I don’t think this has anything to do with something we did, but we’re ever-so-grateful!

Passy: The Shmabbs never took to a pacifier, actually. She has one – a regular one, not the wubbanub that Emma Grace and most kids love, but she really just uses it as a teething mechanism and just bites on it.

Teeth: she has 2 teeth – her bottom two teeth, and it’s the most precious thing ever!

Demeanor: our little love is actually very calm; she’s super go-with-the-flow and almost never cries. She laughs and smiles all the time but she can be feisty, which brings us to our next category…

Personality: while she is definitely an easy going baby, she has a big time stubborn streak! We’d say she’s calm about 95% of the time, but if she’s pissed she will let you know via a loud scream and red face. This typically happens when she sees her bottle – she has no patience and wants it immediately!

Favorite parent: I think Trav… She does get excited when I enter the room and get upset when I leave, but she lights up in such a different way when she sees Trav. It makes me smile every time I see it though because her name means “a father’s joy.” I mean, how precious is that?

Tubes: Ugh. Yes, Abby had to get tubes last week after multiple ear infections and her inability to clear her inner ear fluid.  We kept hearing that we would see a night and day difference in Abby’s demeanor once she had the surgery. We weren’t sure if this would be true for us because Abby never was fussy and never lost sleep with her ear infections, but there was one big difference we’ve seen – her verbal output. Abby was vocal before her tubes, but nothing like right now! It’s crazy – she is babbling constantly now and just seems so joyful. We’re chalking it up to the fact that she can hear better now. 🙂

Favorite toy: I’m not sure she has a favorite toy, but she definitely has a favorite game. Abby loves to scream “ah” in this hight pitched, little voice and then we respond with the same sound, then she does it again, and then we do, and you get the gist. It’s the most precious little echoing game and we love just watching her face light up!

Being a sister: to say she adores Emma Grace would be an understatement. She is constantly watching and observing EG and just beams when Emma Grace looks at her. They are starting to play together now and it’s just the cutest thing!

First word: she hasn’t said anything yet, but we’re all in competition for her to say our name first – I try daily to get her to say “mama,” Trav wants her to say “dada,” and Emma Grace keeps trying to get her to say “Emma.” We’ll keep you posted!

Thanks for reading today and I hope you’re all having a great week! Stay tuned for Emma Grace’s update next week!!
