2 Reasons to Love Tie Front Shorts

pink bow shorts

Happy Friday, friends!! Today I’m chatting about a trend we’ve been seeing more and more of lately – tie front shorts. Actually, we’re seeing tie front tops, tie front dresses, and tie front skirts, too! It’s kind of a fun trend and one I think ends up being quite flattering. It does take a little getting used to though if you don’t quite have a feminine bend to your style.

But, I found these bright pink shorts from J.Crew and couldn’t wait to share them with you. These pants show exactly why I think every woman should love this trend. First, the high waist is nice if you’re self-conscious about your midsection (hello being a young mom), but the real benefit of these shorts is that the bow is big enough that it hangs over your stomach and therefore minimizes any insecurities you may have about your waistline. Shorts that shrink my waistline are always welcome in my closet.

Secondly, the big bow on the front of these shorts adds just enough flare to make a feminine statement. My style always tends to lean towards a touch of femininity, so these shorts fit right in. It’s nice to have your statement piece built right into your outfit so you don’t have to do much accessory-wise. Style these shorts with a camisole like I did here, a vneck tee, or a cropped denim jacket and you’re good to go!

FLEURDILLE FEELS: Welcome to a new little piece of Fleurdille! It’s probably very evident that I love styling outfits and enjoy talking fashion here in this little space. But what I love more than fashion-talk is just getting to know other people. I’ve struggled for almost a year now on the best way to get more personal with you all in an unscripted sort of way. I’ve done several really personal posts like this post on my journey with postpartum. But, rather than a super emotional post every now and then, I’d rather be in a personal dialogue with you all.

So, I’m going to try out this this little bit at the end of every post. Sometimes it will be on a topic I’ve researched, sometimes it will be about a frustration, but mainly it will be about my life – what I’m feeling, what I’m growing through, what I’m learning, etc.

Since it’s Friday, I’ll keep this short, but can we chat podcasts for a minute? Most weeks I do a fair amount of driving and have started to listen to Serial (yes, I know I’m late in the game on this one), and oh my word it’s good! I’ve also been hearing that S Town is just as good and maybe even better. I’m also a political nerd so I listen to a lot of NPR. Anyway, if you guys have any podcast recommendations I would love to hear your suggestions!

And as always, if there ever something specific you want me to chat about just leave a comment on this post or email me at hello@fleurdille.com.
